What is “Gardening”?

I have written hundreds of words about gardening over the years; from beginner articles all the way to advanced bulbing techniques. What I have never talked about though, and what I have always assumed, is that people had a basic, working knowledge of what gardening was. I assumed people knew the basics, the techniques and had a vested interest in the green arts. But what if people were coming to my articles and thinking “this is all very well and good, but what is gardening?” It’s not a question I’d ever considered. Gardening is… well, that’s harder than I thought. At it’s most basic level gardening about the tending, nurturing and caring about nature. Animals and Gardening

We all know how it goes; you are trying to maintain an immaculate garden but, while doing so, you are also trying your hardest to look after pets. It is not an easy balance to maintain; especially when the pets that you are trying to look after are ones like dogs or cats, specifically ones that like to rummage around outside like they are digging for flipping truffles. There are, thankfully, some very simple tricks you can use to change the look of your garden. This one is particularly clever trick (and very generous of me to offer it to you all!) but mirrors are a cheap and clever way to to alter the look of your garden. By placing them in key locations in and around your garden you can...

A Glass Covered Veranda

If you like to step outside into your garden for whatever reason, and would like to be able to do so all year round, no matter what the weather, then getting an awning could be the ideal solution for you. A lot of people are intrigued by the idea of awnings for their gardens, but are more interested in the idea of having a glass awning, or see-through awning. These can be used to create a glass covered veranda, which allows you to enjoy the sunlight or at least see the clouds up above you, all while secure in the fact that you won’t get wet. Glass verandas can be built by using a glass awning, and can be a great addition to any home. By placing them outside your...
